Project Summary

A Home That Faces The River

River frontage Montana, River Frontage Montana Style
River frontage Montana

This home started with the water. The lot runs down to the river, so we turned the whole living space toward it and built a window wall that puts the current in the room with you. Outside, cedar and metal siding give the house a look that belongs on a Montana riverbank, and a riverview patio carries the living room out into the open air.

Inside, the floor plan is open from the kitchen to the fire. Custom beams run under a cedar ceiling, and a metal-faced gas fireplace sits beneath a live-edge cedar mantle. The kitchen is built around Huntwood cabinets with concrete and quartz countertops and a concrete island, and the pantry hides a coffee bar with custom shelving. A built-in desk with live-edge shelves and a concrete top turns a quiet corner into a place to work.

The tile work is where this house shows its personality. We set three kinds of subway tile three different ways: vertical stacked, herringbone, and a custom stacked basket weave. The powder room pairs a custom vanity with designer wallpaper, the interior doors are solid core and painted Sherwin Williams Peppercorn, and the entry is a custom glass door with a sidelight. All of it fits in 2,500 square feet of living space with three bedrooms, three and a half bathrooms, and a 1,000 square foot garage.
