Log and Timber Frame Homes in Northwest Montana

Handcrafted log homes and custom timber frames, built for the meadow, the mountainside and the view.

What We Build

Log Homes And Timber Frames

We build handcrafted log homes and timber-frame homes across the Flathead Valley and Northwest Montana, from our offices in Kalispell and Eureka. The two are different houses. In a log home the logs are the walls, and the craft shows in every corner and every railing. In a timber frame the house stands on a frame of heavy timbers, and the beams that hold it up become the finest thing in it.

Our Montana Luxury Log Cabin was handcrafted for a mountainside with meadow views. Vaulted ceilings lift the living room, a loft looks down over it, and crafted log railings tie the two together by hand. Hardwood floors run up to a warm fire, a natural stone wall grounds the room, a cozy guest suite keeps room for family, and there is spacious parking for the Montana toys. It has two bedrooms plus a loft and two bathrooms.

A Frame You Can See From Every Room

Above Kalispell we built a custom timber-frame home around one view, the Flathead Valley laid out below the deck. Structural timbers carry the open living and dining room, custom steel and cable railings run the stairs and the deck without blocking a sightline, and the kitchen pairs white quartz with a custom backsplash. It has 3,000 square feet of living space, four bedrooms plus a loft, four bathrooms and a 750 square foot garage.

Timber turns up across the rest of our work too. Our barndominium in the Flathead is a timber-frame build, and the Glacier Park Retreat carries log accents and specialty woodcraft from the kitchen to the stairs.

How A Log Or Timber Build Runs

Planned On Paper, Then Built

A log or timber home follows the same two phases as every home we build. Pre-construction planning comes first: we walk the land for access, utilities, septic feasibility, terrain and views, refine the design with you from a napkin sketch or an existing plan, and settle the budget and the permits on paper, where changes are cheap. Then construction, from site prep and foundation through framing, rough-ins and finishes to the final walkthrough. Every one is planned for Flathead winters and winds, with a superior thermal envelope and heavy-duty snow load considerations.

Questions

Log And Timber Homes, Answered

Building from another state? Our guide to building in Montana from out of state covers the land, the plans, the updates and the visits.

Do you build log homes or only timber frame homes?

Both. Our Montana Luxury Log Cabin is a handcrafted log home on a mountainside meadow, and Kalispell Montana Mountain Views is a custom timber-frame home above Kalispell. We build timber-frame barndominiums too.

Can you build a log or timber home if I live out of state?

Yes. Many of the families we build for are moving to Northwest Montana from another state. We review the land before you buy, refine the plans with you, agree how and how often you will hear from us, and plan your visits around the decisions that are easiest in person.

Where do you build log and timber frame homes?

Across the Flathead Valley and Northwest Montana, including Kalispell, Whitefish, Columbia Falls, Bigfork, Lakeside, Polson and Eureka, in Flathead, Lake and Lincoln Counties, from our offices in Kalispell and Eureka.
